It was only after I graduated from Newton Country Day School that I realized that there are women in the world who feel "less than" because they are female. It never occurred to me that I would not be able to accomplish something I set out to do just because I am a woman. I consider myself a person first; I am as capable as any other person, male or female.
Founded in 1880, Newton Country Day School is an independent, college preparatory school for girls, grades 5 - 12. Rooted in the Roman Catholic tradition, Newton is a member of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools, which spans forty-four countries and twenty-one cities in The United States.
At Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart, young women are prepared for lives of courage and confidence. Such preparation is accomplished deliberately, guiding students to realize the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and physical dimensions of their lives. Here, students experience the transformative power of God's love for each of them. Secure in that knowledge, students develop a deep and enduring capacity for scholarly engagement and social justice.
Highly motivated girls of all faiths energize the school and join a community of vigorous intellect, active compassion, and joyful traditions. Students discover and develop their individual talents and dedicate their gifts to the service of others.
