Welcome

At Newton Country Day, girls from over 65 communities in greater Boston come together to develop the courage, confidence and skills required for intellectual, athletic, spiritual and artistic exploration and accomplishment.

Established in 1880, Newton Country Day School is one of the oldest independent Catholic girls' schools in New England. In our 137th year of educating "the whole woman with a view to the age and circumstances in which she lives," Newton welcomes students who may choose from over 120 different courses (including 21 that are Advanced Placement) offered in nine academic departments. Newton’s academically rigorous programs, together with robust athletic, artistic and other extra-curricular offerings, provide for our girls the opportunity to identify what inspires each of them.

The demands placed on women today highlight the need to develop in our girls a sense of their power and ability. Single sex education has proven time and again to be fundamental in developing a young woman’s sense of self and purpose. Graduates of girls' schools account for a significant percentage of women in leadership positions in industry, academia, public life, and throughout all professions.

Newton Country Day School is one of an international group of schools and colleges founded by the Religious of the Sacred Heart. Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat founded the Society in 1800 in Paris as a response to the chaos of post-Revolutionary France. She established a progressive educational system that, from its inception, has been committed to educating young women of all faiths.

We encourage you to explore this website and visit our school.
