Ninth graders and new Upper School students receive their laptops and preliminary training before the academic year commences. All ninth graders attend training sessions focusing on network security and data management and hone their skills on key applications such as First Class (our e-mail client) and Microsoft programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
Upper School faculty incorporate technology into the curriculum in a variety of ways. Humanities courses employ word processing extensively, striving for paperless information exchange and using online tracking changes to provide feedback from teacher and peer editors. Each year chemistry students use Macromedia Flash to create animations depicting various chemical reactions. Foreign language students take part in online language labs using our e-mail server, and many courses foster in-depth discussion through the use of blogs. Students in the Digital Photography class edit and manipulate images using Photoshop. Extracurricular committees also challenge students to learn and apply technology skills for clearer outcomes.
