Annual Fund Volunteer (year long)

Newton Country Day School relies on voluntary support from alumnae, parents, and friends each year. • Solicit Annual Fund gifts from 10-15 parents of your choice.
• Send personalized fund-raising letters provided by the Development Office and make calls from home to encourage donations.
• Attend two volunteer meetings (Fall and Spring)
• Encourage parent attendance at school events throughout the year.

Class Representatives (2 year committment)

The class representatives work in conjunction with the Parents’ Association and serve as a liaison to enhance communication between their class and the Parents Association. In addition, class representatives act as an information source for class-specific information and work to build community within their grade. There are two/three representatives per class

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Organize one class social during the school year
• Attend monthly Parents’ Association meetings

Admissions Volunteer

Parents are invited to the NCDS Open House in the fall to meet and welcome prospective families. Parents help with registration, refreshments, and ushering in the chapel and theatre. Prospective families enjoy the opportunity to meet current parents who have gone through the admission process and can answer their questions about NCDS. Parent volunteers are also needed to help at general admission receptions that take place throughout the year.

Homecoming (September 24)

Every October, we welcome Alumnae, Families and Friends of NCDS for a Day of Fun! Homecoming is fun for the whole family and includes activities such as the Paul Roberti Fun Run, face panting, bake sales, pony rides and more! In shifts between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., volunteers help with set-up, refreshments, school store, games, crafts, breakdown, and clean up of this fun family day.

Mother-Daughter Liturgy and Brunch (November 6)

Another NCDS tradition! The Liturgy and Brunch an opportunity for mothers and daughters to spend quality time with one another. Mass is typically held at 9:00 a.m. followed by a brunch at Boston College. Volunteers organize invitations, decorations and entertainment.

Father-Daughter Liturgy and Skate (December 4)

Another NCDS tradition! The Liturgy and Skate is an opportunity for fathers and daughters to spend quality time with one another. Volunteers organize invitations, decorations and entertainment.

Très Bien Auction (March 2)

The auction is one of the school's major fundraising events. Typically held at a location in Boston, it is an elegant and fun evening. The evening's success is dependent on the help of many and no experience is necessary. It is a great way for parents to get to know one another both in the evening planning and during the evening itself. Please watch Newton Notes for the date of the first meeting and come and learn more.

Diversity Committee

The Parent Diversity Interest Group of Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart supports the building of community as a Christian value by promoting the multicultural understanding and appreciation that will lead to cultural competence. We seek to unite and educate the various constituencies of our community by fostering relationships across cultural, socio-economic, and ethnic lines and by offering programs that encourage meaningful dialogue and learning opportunities for the entire school community.

Faculty Appreciation Breakfast (April)

One morning in April, parents come together to show the faculty their appreciation by holding a drop-in breakfast in the Blue Room. Faculty can sit and relax if they have time, or grab a coffee and a bite to eat to go. Help is needed with decorations, food donation, coordination and staffing the event.

Book Fair (May)

Volunteers assist with set-up, sales, and breakdown. The Book Fair offers required summer reading books as well as those for pleasure reading. For more information about volunteering at the Book Fair, contact Librarians Mrs. Tuck or Miss Kinney.

School Store (year long)

Volunteers assist as needed with inventory, set-up, sales, and breakdown of NCDS merchandise.
