Middle School News

Opening Day and First Day of Classes

Opening Day-Wednesday, September 5: Middle School girls should arrive at 8:30 a.m. under the arches and look for the large balloons where they will be greeted and escorted by Eighth Graders to designated locations. A portion of the day will be filled with outside orientation activities, so the girls should wear comfortable clothes. The girls will also spend time in their homerooms going over their schedules and finding out what they need for the first day of class. There will be a mid-morning goûter. Lunch will not be served. Dismissal for all Middle School girls is at the arches at 12:00 p.m.

First Day of Class -Thursday, September 6: This is a regular school day for Middle School girls. The girls should report to homeroom by 7:50 a.m. ready for classes. Teachers will instruct the girls about what they will need for each of their classes.

All Middle School students will be dismissed under the arches at 3:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays and at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays. All Middle School students remaining at school must report to the Middle School Commons for supervised study time, which is available until 6:00 p.m.

Dance

All Middle School Students should have a pair of pink ballet slippers for dance class by September 17. Students should come prepared with proper dance class attire to all dance classes. Clothing should be form-fitting and easy to move in. We will distribute hand-outs regarding acceptable attire and other dance class information in the first week of school.

A Midsummer Night's Dream

The Seventh Grade will present A Midsummer Night's Dream on Tuesday, October 30 at 2:00 p.m. in the Little Theater.

Athletics

In order to participate in pre-season sports, Middle School students must have a current physical examination on file with the school nurse, Mrs. Terwilliger. All physical examinations were due August 1. this fall we will offer the following competitive teams: field hockey, soccer and cross country. We will offer an intramural volleyball team.

Try-outs for Middle School cross-country, field hockey and soccer will be held Monday, September 10, from 3:30-4:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 11, from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 12, from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m., Thursday, September 13, from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. and Friday September 14 from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. In order to accommodate the large number of participants, Monday’s soccer try-out will be for Grades 7 and 8 only, and Tuesday’s try-out will be for Grades 5 and 6 only. All grades will attend the remainder of the week.
The regular practice schedule will begin on September 17 and is as follows: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays, from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. and Wednesday and Fridays from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. Game days are normally Wednesdays and Fridays with occasional Mondays and two Saturdays to accommodate Homecoming. Check our website for the tentative game schedule.

Intramural volleyball will begin on Tuesday, September 18, from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Regular practice will be on Tuesdays from 3:30 - 4:30-p.m., Wednesdays from 2:20 - 3:30 p.m. and Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Intramural volleyball will run from September 18 - November 1.
