Latin II Project

The language of Ancient Rome was once a dynamic and popular spoken language and yet it is now hardly spoken even in Latin classes.  This project requires that you understand, memorize, and accurately pronounce a Latin passage of your choosing.  It is important to devote yourself to this project and learn the correct pronunciation of the words for several reasons.  You will attune your ears to the melody and rhythm of the language, which will help you develop an intuitive sense of spelling and syntax.  You will expand your vocabulary and learn how to break down a complex passage.  Most importantly, you will step inside the language and become more immersed in the ancient culture than ever before.  Latin will come off the page for you and you will have a chance to tell your passage in your own voice.  I encourage you to dedicate your time to this assignment and take it on as a personal journey.  You will choose a passage you personally connect to and hear how your own interests and passions were articulated by the ancient Romans.
