Dance Team is Grand Champion

The varsity dance team competed with fourteen high school and collegiate dance teams in the Sunday, January 24 Emmanuel College Dance Competition. The Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart dance team presented a “Team Performance” routine to music from the Broadway musical “South Pacific.” The routine featured styles from jazz, hip-hop, pom, and kickline. The team won first place in the Senior Division and won the Grand Champion trophy for earning the highest score at the competition.

Team members are: Co-Captains A. Chistolini ’10 and J. McKenna ’10, K. Fedorowicz ’10, K. Hinderhofer ’10, A. Piemonte ’10, S. Maskell ’10, G. Quirk ’12, E. Chadwick ’12, C. Vickers ’12, F. Parrish ’12, M. Dalton ’12, K. Sullivan ’12, A. Riobueno ’13, and team manager A. Aquilino ’10. The team is coached by Ms. Kerrin Clark and math teacher and college guidance advisor Ms. Deborah Tully.

The team now is preparing a pom routine to the music “Jai Ho” for the February ECDA New England Championship in Rhode Island. In March the team travels twice to New York. On March 7 they compete in the National Dance Association Northeast Championship at the University of Albany and on March 13 they perform at the NDA US Championships in New York City.
