Welcome to Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart. Whether you are new to our community or have been part of it for many years, we are grateful you are here.

Newton Country Day is a community grounded in the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart education—faith, intellectual depth, service, the building of community, and personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom. These Five Goals guide our teaching, shape our culture, and inspire the relationships at the heart of school life. They help students develop a strong sense of self, a love of learning, and a commitment to using their gifts in service of the world.

What distinguishes a Sacred Heart education is the profound experience of belonging. Here, students are known, celebrated for who they are, and encouraged to grow in authenticity and purpose. They form deep, lasting friendships. Teachers cultivate curiosity, guide students toward new ideas, and foster a love of learning that extends well beyond the classroom. A Sacred Heart education invites students not only to pursue excellence, but also to consider how their gifts can contribute to the world. The result is a vibrant, joyful environment where students feel supported and inspired to stretch themselves.

You will see this joy reflected across campus—in spirited traditions, collaborative classrooms, inspired arts and athletic programs, and in the everyday moments of connection that shape a young woman’s sense of purpose. Our graduates carry this sense of belonging into the world, ready to lead with empathy, curiosity, and integrity, prepared to navigate a complex world with clarity and conviction. They understand who they are, what matters to them, and how they can make a meaningful difference.

We welcome you to explore our campus and discover the opportunities that await your family.

Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart is an independent, preparatory school for girls in grades 5-12.

At Newton Country Day, girls from over 50 communities in greater Boston come together to develop Courage and Confidence, as well as the skills required for intellectual, athletic, spiritual, and artistic exploration and accomplishment.

In our 144th year of educating "the whole woman with a view to the age and circumstances in which she lives," Newton Country Day welcomes students who choose from over 120 different courses (including more than 30 honors and Advanced Placement classes) offered in ten academic departments. Students in all grades engage in a Health and Wellness Curriculum which centers on the importance of both physical and social-emotional health. Students in Grades 10 and 11 are eligible to participate in our unique International Sacred Heart Network Exchange program, a fully immersive experience that engages the power of the Sacred Heart Network to prepare our students for global citizenship.

Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart is a member of the International Network of Sacred Heart Schools, the National Coalition of Girls’ Schools, the National Association of Independent Schools, and the Association of Independent Schools in New England.

The community makes NCDS a special place. I always feel so comfortable being myself and love having the unconditional love and support from the girls in my class.T. Field ’19
