Middle School Students Bring Magic to the Stage with Beauty and the Beast Jr. Performance

On February 13 and 14, students in the Middle School put on a wonderful show to sold-out audiences with their production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr. in Newton Country Day’s Sweeney-Husson Theatre.

An adaptation of the original Broadway production and Disney’s beloved 1991 film, Beauty and the Beast Jr. tells a timeless tale of transformation and acceptance, featuring songs written by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Tim Rice.

The story follows Belle, a beautiful and independent young woman in a provincial French town, and the grim, fearsome Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. When Belle’s father, Maurice, is imprisoned in the Beast’s castle, her attempt to rescue him leads to her capture by the Beast. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved in return, the curse will be broken and he and his enchanted household–Mrs. Potts, Chip, Lumiere, and Cogsworth–will be transformed back into their former human forms. But time is running out. Once the last petal of a magical rose falls, they will be doomed for all eternity.

Congratulations to the cast, crew, and those who made this magical production possible!
