Spring Middle and Upper School Athletic Awards and Wrap Up


Upper School

Varsity Softball
On May 18, Varsity Softball team won the Eastern Independent League (EIL) tournament. Seeded #2 in the tournament, NCDS faced Dana Hall in the first game, winning 14-4. In the championship game, Newton took on #4 Bancroft School, who had defeated the #1 ranked Winsor School to advance to the title game. Tied going into the bottom of the 7th inning, Newton’s victory came as the 15th run crossed the plate for a final score of 15-14. The team completed their regular season with an overall record of 8-2 and an EIL record of 7-1.

Varsity Tennis
Varsity Tennis made it to the semifinal round in Class C of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) tournament. The team completed their regular season with an overall record of 6-2 and an EIL record of 5-2.

Varsity Golf
On May 13, O. Winchenbaugh ’21 won the 9-Hole Division of the 34th annual Pippy O'Connor Independent School Girls’ Golf Tournament, played at the Wyantenuck Country Club in Great Barrington, Mass. Twenty-nine girls from Independent Schools across New England competed in the division.

Pitcher N. Coburn ’23 threw no-hitter against Dexter Southfield. All 18 outs were strikeouts. The team went on to have an undefeated season with a record of 7-0.
