Upper School Girls Receive Science Honor
The trio were among thousands of students nominated to enter the competition based on their success at the 2019 Middle School Massachusetts Science and Engineering Fair last spring. Chow, Cressotti, and Woolbert’s project Back on Track placed first at the fair and received the Pauline Lamarche Memorial Award. The project designed a device that identifies bad posture with 99% accuracy, and a companion data tracker program.

"It is wonderful to see how much these girls have achieved this past year - scoring high on the regional fair and making it to the top of the state fair,” said Science and Technology teacher Tamás Molnár. “This achievement is not only the success of this year but of all previous years they have been students at Newton Country Day.”

Broadcom MASTERS celebrates students’ ideas, aims to identify top STEM talent, and strives to encourage students to pursue STEM fields. Students in the top 300 hail from 264 middle schools in 37 states. Each application was reviewed and evaluated by distinguished scientists, engineers and educators. The Top 30 finalists will be selected on September 18.
