Grounded in the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart education, our College Counseling program views future planning as an extension of each student's formation. The college search is more than the pursuit of admission to a particular institution; it is an opportunity for students to grow in self-knowledge, align purpose with possibility, practice thoughtful discernment through reflection and data-informed decision making, and confidently advocate for who they are becoming. Our role is to educate and provide resources that empower students and their parents and caregivers to navigate the search, application, and selection process with clarity and confidence.

Through guided reflection and discernment, students learn to confidently articulate their unique talents, values, aspirations, and sense of purpose. They are the authors of their own stories and are encouraged to engage deeply, take ownership of the process, and pursue excellence while meeting challenges with resilience. We believe the strongest college matches emerge when a young woman knows herself, advocates for herself authentically, and intentionally considers the balance of her choices for her future.

College Counseling is rooted in accompaniment. College Counselors, along with parents and caregivers, play an important role by providing perspective, encouragement, and honest guidance while honoring the student’s ownership of the process. Together, we create the support system students need to navigate an increasingly complex admissions landscape with confidence and integrity.
Our students’ greatest strength in this chapter of imagining life beyond Newton is in harnessing the Sacred Heart mindset she has built from her Upper School experiences.

Beyond Newton Sacred Heart
Goal V of Sacred Heart education is personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom. Our students are prepared to thrive at colleges and universities across the country and around the world because they develop the courage to authentically live lives of purpose, the discernment to pursue opportunities aligned with their values, and the confidence to navigate life's important decisions. Our graduates embody this formation and remain active members of the Newton Sacred Heart community as they return to mentor students, host prospective students on their college campuses, participate in career panels, and create internship and networking opportunities for future generations.
