College Guidance
The goal of the College Guidance program is to match each student’s abilities, strengths, personal preferences, and career aspirations to the most appropriate college or university. Designed to be highly individualized and comprehensive, the college guidance process begins informally when students enter the Upper School and meet with advisors to outline a course of study for their Upper School years. We formally begin the process in junior year when the Head of the Upper School, Headmistress, and Director College Guidance meet with juniors and their parents to introduce the college selection process. Individual as well as small group sessions are held to discuss topics such as the admissions interview, the application, writing the college essay, and applying for financial aid. The School hosts a number of workshops to support families as they navigate this process. Newton graduates attend and thrive at some of the most competitive colleges in the United States and abroad.
