Science and Engineering Fair
Wednesday, February 26, 2025

The 30th Annual Science and Engineering Fair at the Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Students in Grades 7 and 8, as well as students enrolled in Independent Research in the Upper School, will present their science and engineering projects at the fair. Both individual and group projects will be exhibited.

Newton Country Day School needs qualified individuals to judge these exhibits. As a judge, you will be asked to evaluate projects. You will spend fifteen minutes interviewing each student or student group whose project you are reviewing. You will be asked to judge various aspects of the science and engineering exhibits, including the use of the scientific method or engineering process, the originality of the project, and the students’ understanding of what they have researched, discovered, and/or built. Judges will also be asked to share constructive feedback and words of encouragement with our young scientists and engineers.

We ask that judges plan to be at our school on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. From 3:00 to 3:30 pm, the Science Faculty will give a presentation on judging criteria. Judging will begin promptly at 3:30 and will conclude by 6:00. You will be assigned student exhibits to judge during specific time intervals. We invite you to stay for the Awards ceremony, which will begin at 6:30 pm. We will provide refreshments for judges throughout the afternoon.

To indicate your availability, please complete the Judges Response Google Form below as soon as possible. Please direct any questions to Mr. Molnar by phone at 617-559-4961 or by email at sefair@newtonSH.org. The students and faculty at Newton Country Day School greatly appreciate your help.
