Girls currently in Grades 4-6 are invited to Get to Know Newton through two hands-on workshops in January:
Get to Know Newton: Engineering
Camile Rodriguez '07 and Genevieve Fein, Science Faculty
Explore your creative side! Learn about circuits as you create personalized light-up LED name tags. Refine your logical thinking and problem-solving skills as you help a robot navigate a series of challenges. Learn about and apply the Engineering Design process as you build and test prototypes.
Get to Know Newton: Health and Wellness/Cooking
Abby Hueber '05, Wellness Faculty
Come build a balanced plate at Newton Country Day! You'll learn the foundations of nutrition through an arts and crafts activity using a nutrition tool called the Balanced Plate. You will then apply their new-found information to prepare and cook a balanced plate meal as a group and enjoy the meal together.
Date: Saturday, January 12, 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
Location: Newton Country Day School, 785 Centre Street, Newton
Space is limited, so sign up soon! These workshops are free, but we invite you to bring a canned good, which will be donated to a local food bank. Register through Ravenna or by calling the Admission Office at (617) 244-4246.
