Courage and Confidence since 1880

Mes Amies | Fall 2025

Prayers from the Heart is a prayer community for alumnae, parents, and past parents who wish to stay connected through the power of prayer. Rooted in the love of the Heart of Jesus, we hold one another in prayer—lifting up intentions for healing, for peace, for gratitude, and for all that rests within our hearts. All alumnae are invited to take part by submitting your own prayer requests (intentions may be submitted confidentially, if you wish), and by praying for the intentions of others.

Mass of Remembrance
Sunday, November 16 at 4:30pm

We invite all alumnae to join us for a Mass of Remembrance in our Chapel. Together, we will honor and remember all deceased alumnae, family members, and friends who continue to live in our hearts and in the Heart of God.
You are warmly invited to submit the names of your loved ones. These names will be brought forward during the offertory and will be lovingly remembered throughout the month of November in our weekly chapel prayer services.

Alumnae Highlights

A wonderful evening on the Cape! Alumnae from across the decades gathered for our annual Cape Cod Reception to reconnect, reminisce, and celebrate Newton Country Day and the enduring bonds of the Sacred Heart community.

Earlier this month, Kathy Delaney-Smith, legendary former Head Coach of Harvard Women’s Basketball, came to Newton Country Day to reflect on her remarkable 40-year career building one of the Ivy League’s most respected athletic programs. She emphasized how athletics and academics can strengthen one another, and offered guidance for parents and caregivers on supporting students in navigating a balance of the two. Watch her speak here: Full Court Balance

For the first time, this year's Grandfriends’ Day welcomed guests from both the Upper and Middle Schools. Nearly 300 Grandfriends joined us on campus for a day filled with joy, connection, and laughter. Pictured here are grandparents — who are also parents of alumnae — with their granddaughters, a wonderful reflection of their families' enduring dedication to Newton Country Day.

This summer, Newton Country Day welcomed Katherine Kistner as our first full-time Director of College Counseling. College Counselors Ms. Kistner and Ms. Riobueno P '13 can be found in our cozy College Cottage where we host undergraduate admissions representatives for information sessions with our students. In September, Ms. Kistner represented NCDS and New England at the National Association of College Admissions Counseling's annual conference in Columbus, OH.

New and Old Traditions

The Class of 2026 kicked off our annual Blue/Silver Induction!

Homecoming returned to a one-day celebration this year, bringing the entire NCDS community together for a fun-filled day of school spirit and connection. From cheering on the teams to gathering under the lights on the upper field, it was a joyful day that highlighted the strong sense of tradition and sisterhood at Newton Country Day.

The Office of Community and Belonging and our student-led P.R.I.S.M. (People for a Racially Inclusive Society of Multiculturalism) Council hosted our very first Alumnae Homecoming Breakfast, where alums reconnected with faculty and each other, and also heard from our current student leaders. There were so many beautiful moments as we embraced our shared sisterhood. We hope you will join us at next year’s Homecoming!

There was also a highlight for our furry friends this year at Homecoming for a new tradition: Blessing of the Pets!

New Traditions Launched by the Class of 2025

The Class of 2025 participated in a new tradition, gathering in the chapel to be formally welcomed into the Network with the Sacred Heart Alumnae Induction. Each received a symbolic passport and pin and were the first to sign a new alumnae book.

The Class of 2025 families hosted a new tradition this past February that marked the 100-day countdown to graduation. It featured laughter, advice, and reflections from the Head of School and alumna Beth Gallagher ‘99, celebrating sisterhood and the Sacred Heart community.

Held on Valentine’s Day, the first annual Sacred Heart Luncheon brought together mothers of alumnae and senior mothers for connection, reflection, and card-making for their daughters. It honored multi-generational ties within the Sacred Heart community and the continued involvement of alumnae families.
