Fostering Community and Competition

A Turf Field for Newton Country Day

Athletics are an essential part of life at Newton Country Day. A new turf field will elevate our athletic program, expand opportunities for students, and create dynamic gathering spaces for our entire community. The field will be a place where Courage and Confidence take root, where students challenge themselves, cheer for one another, and celebrate school spirit.

Our Next Step in Athletic Excellence

Competitive Edge

Adding a turf field underscores Newton Country Day’s commitment to competitive excellence and whole-child development. Most of our peer schools now offer turf facilities.

Expanded Play and Training

A turf surface ensures consistent playability through inclement weather and early spring “mud season.” Portable lighting will  make evening practices and games possible, extending training time and creating more opportunities for athletes and fans.

Sustainability and Efficiency

With an expected lifespan of approximately 15 years, turf offers reliable performance and significantly reduced annual maintenance costs compared to natural grass.

Spirit, Connection, and Community

A turf field is more than a playing surface. It will become a true center of community life. Enhanced seating and gathering areas will invite students, parents, and alumnae to come together to cheer, connect, and celebrate.

Community Connection
  • A welcoming space for games, team celebrations, and outdoor classes
  • A hub for Middle School recess and informal student gatherings
  • A venue for sports clinics and visiting youth programs, connecting Newton Country Day with our neighboring communities and introducing new families to our school
School Pride

Visible from Centre Street, the field’s end zones will proclaim our values of Courage and Confidence. They will stand as a symbol of excellence, pride, and tradition, letting every visitor know: We are Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart.

Signature Spaces

Athletics are integral to our mission to educate the whole child. Whether learning a new sport or pursuing excellence at a high level of competition, students build teamwork, leadership, and resilience—skills that serve them well beyond the field.

“At Newton Country Day, athletics is where joy, growth, and grit come together: a place where students discover the thrill of competition, develop their character and leadership, and cultivate the fierce determination to excel on the field and in life.”
Warren Perry, Director of Athletics
