Athletic Placement Process
Introducing the Athletic Placement Process (APP) - an initiative starting Fall 2025. This process is designed to support student-athletes who demonstrate readiness to compete at a higher level. It will allow select MS students to be considered for participation in a varsity team sport, providing them with a unique opportunity to further develop their athletic skills.
This comprehensive process includes a physical maturity assessment (Tanner Scale), fitness testing, and a review of sport-specific skills. These measures ensure your child is not only physically but also emotionally prepared for advanced competition, reflecting our commitment to their safety and well-being. Questions can be directed to Warren Perry, Director of Athletics.
Absence Policy
If a student is going to be absent or tardy, parents should notify the school before 9am via the Veracross Parent Portal or by calling the Academic Office directly: MS: (617) 559-4750, US: (617) 559-4747.
Lateness Policy
If a student arrives late to school (after 7:45am for MS, 7:55am for US), she is to report immediately to either the MS Academic Office, or to the Front Desk if in the US, to be recorded present before going to class. Late arrivals may only be excused by a note from a medical professional.
Early Dismissal Policy
Students may not leave before the end of the school day without permission from a parent/caregiver. Any student who has an appointment that necessitates being dismissed early must have this information noted either by her parents entering it directly via the Veracross Parent Portal or by calling the Academic Office directly: MS: (617) 559-4750, US: (617) 559-4747. Laptop Information for Incoming US Students
The US utilizes a 1:1 laptop program, which means that students bring their own computers to school each day. This letter outlines device specification recommendations for all students entering the US.
US Advisory Assignments
Each student in the US is assigned a faculty advisor whose role is to support and scaffold the student’s academic and interpersonal development. The formative conversations between a student and her advisor help the student recognize her strengths, identify areas for growth, and become an effective and empowered self-advocate.
The process for assigning US advisors is intentionally student-centered. On Mon. Jun. 2, students in rising grades 10-12 will have the opportunity to indicate their top 6 choices for a 2025-2026 advisor from a list of available faculty members. Rising Grade 11 and 12 students have the option to stay with their current advisor. When selecting a new advisor, not every student will be assigned her top choice. We are confident that each student will be able to identify a number of adults who might be a good fit for them from our list of faculty advisors.
In May, students in Grade 9 (who were assigned their advisor this year) will discuss their options for a Grade 10 advisor with their current advisor to help discern which faculty members might be a good match for their growth and needs next year. We strongly encourage you to discuss this process with your daughter at home, centering and empowering her voice as she considers her options.
Elections
US elections for student leadership positions will be held during the spring. Please encourage your daughter to run for office. Any student wishing to run for office must have a re-enrollment contract on file in the Business Office and all financial obligations to the school up-to-date.
Grade 12 Activities
Members of the Class of 2025 will conclude their Senior Project (Apr. 28-May 23) and participate in mandatory class activities May 27-30. Students should expect to be in school for the length of a regular school day each day, plus the overnight retreat to the Craigville Retreat Center from May 29-30. Students are also expected to be in school from 8-11:45am on June 2, and for Prize Day and the Graduation Liturgy on June 4 preceding Graduation on June 5. Hesed (Class of 2027): Project Proposals due July 1
In January, sophomores received an introduction to the Hesed Project, a required 40-hour community service commitment that is integrated into the Religion 11 curriculum. Students are strongly advised to complete these projects during the summer prior to junior year. Given the considerable commitment of time that Hesed entails, spring semester is a good time to reach out to service agencies to begin planning a schedule that is compatible with your family’s summer plans. The deadline for summer service project proposals (or a deferral to complete Hesed during the school year) is July 1. See a general overview of the Hesed program and its requirements. Students have access to more resources via Google Classroom. If there are any questions please contact Dr. Potter at x4757.
Used Textbook Donation
The library gratefully accepts donations of gently used US textbooks. Donations can be dropped off with Mrs. Cedrone at the front desk.

Juniors
- Each student should focus on successfully completing her junior year, including final assessments and Advanced Placement exams.
- We encourage juniors to meet with College Counseling again before summer vacation.
- We are available to communicate with juniors' parents via phone, Google Meet, or in person during the rest of the year, during the summer, and in the fall. Please call or email to schedule an appointment.
- We encourage most students to prepare for standardized tests over the summer, even though many colleges remain test-optional; a strong score can add value to an application, and schools are looking to these scores as part of the admission decision more than they were two years ago. When registering for any standardized test, students are advised to register early to ensure a convenient testing location and to avoid late fees.
- Timeline: The College Application Process, Jan '25 to May '26 has useful links to assignments, deadlines, and financial aid resources
Class of 2026 College Counseling Assignments
- Juniors were recently directed to ask two teachers to write letters of recommendation for their college applications. Colleges much prefer letters from junior-year teachers. Typically, students ask one humanities teacher and one math/science teacher for a letter, although there are no hard and fast rules about this.
- Once students have secured two teachers to write on their behalf, they complete the Google Form by May 5.
- All juniors are also expected to (1) write a personal reflection and (2) update their Naviance/College Classroom resumès detailing their extracurricular activities and accomplishments. Specific instructions were given in class meetings. These assignments are essential as they help us write our counselor recommendations over the summer.
- Both assignments are due on May 5. These assignments were introduced and assigned in early March. Please encourage your daughters to meet these deadlines, as these are important assignments. If students fall behind deadlines early (more assignments are coming, of course) they often add unneeded stress to an already demanding process.

Keep an eye out for our monthly newsletter email, featuring the silver banner above!
